Rome - first round thriller
What a great match for both
teams! Mariusz with Marcin and Juan Monaco with Luis Horna fought really hard to win their first match in the
tournament. High percentage of the first service, although looked well in the stats, was not enough to win.
Good thing is that Marcin and Mariusz did not lose the grip till the very end and won that close match 7/6(2)
6/7(4) 10/8. Now, our players will face seeds number 8, Paul Hanley of Australia and Leander Paes of India,

won by Mariusz and Marcin 7/3. The second set was very alike, with the difference that the tie-break winners
were Johansson and Pavel 7/5. Also in the third part of the match, played in grand slams in the old system,

Sydney, Mariusz and Marcin advanced to the quarterfinals in Medibank International. In the first round, they
beat the second team of the tournament, Daniel Nestor (Canada) and Nenad Zimonjic (Serbia) 7/6(5) 6/4. The
match was very even, the evidence being at least the stats, so similar for both teams. The first set finished
with a tie-break, where Mariusz and Marcin were more fortunate. In the second, only one break for our team
decided that they won the whole match. Tomorrow, Marcin and Mariusz have a day off, and it is also a day on
which the next opponents for them are to be decided. And so their next rivals are going to be

Doha - first round
Unfortunately, Mariusz and Marcin's
first match in the new season cannot be called good. Our team lost to Santoro and Wawrinka, who were in a
great disposition, 5/7 0/6. Too bad but, as they say, life goes on and we shall save all our enthusiasm for
the next tournament. It can only be better :)
Monday December 31, 2007
4.45 p.m.
Doha
Tomorrow, on the first day of the new year, Mariusz
and Marcin are playing their first match in the new season. Nothing has changed in the draw since Saturday,
and so Mariusz and Marcin's opponents are going to be Stanislas Wawrinka and Fabrice Santoro, who advanced to
the singles second round earlier today. Taking into consideration that it is New Year's Eve today, our players
are surely satisfied with the order of play. According to that schedule, they are playing the last match on
central court, second from 7.30 p.m. local time.
New Year
For those of you who don't speak
Polish and can't read
the wishes in the guest book: Marcin and Mariusz wish you and your families all the best and hope that your
dreams would come
true. All the best in your private and proffesional lives. Also, they thank you for your support in good and
especially in bad moments.
Have a wonderful year 2008

Doha, Qatar, in a tournament with the prize money of over one million dollars played on

Summary
Another season came to an end, Mariusz and Marcin
are finally enjoing their vacation, and for us it is the time for summaries. And so, the season started just
as normal - quarterfinal in Doha, semifinal in Sydney, another one in Buenos Aires. However, Marcin and
Mariusz were far from huge successes and following months brought more disappointments. Therefore, Mariusz and
Marcin decided to split up for a while. Marcin played with Kristof Vliegen and Chris Haggard, whereas Mariusz
paired up with Grzegorz Panfil, Petr Pala and Lukasz Kubot. However, the crisis didn't end, and later there
was Davis Cup and the tournament in Poland, in Sopot. During both tournaments Mariusz and Marcin played
together and they triuphed in Sopot. From that time on, they haven't separated and the rest of the season was
more than good. Final in New Haven, quite a good play in US Open, semifinal in Bucharest and finally, the
awesome three weeks of October, when our players were in three consecutive finals winning in Vienna and losing
in Madrid's final to the best team in the world, the Bryan brothers. Also, in the last season, Mariusz got
married only two days before the Sopot tournament to his beautiful fiancee, Marta.
The last great
matches of Mariusz and Marcin make the expectations for the next season to rise. If they are met - we will
see, but in the meantime it turns out that Mariusz and Marcin will be one of the few teams from the top that
will remain unchanged. The new teams are to be the following: Paul Hanley and Leander Paes, Pavel Vizner and
Martin Damm, Jonas Bjorkman and Kevin Ullyett, Mahesh Bhupathi and Mark Knowles, Daniel Nestor and Nenad
Zimonjic. Max Mirnyi, on the other hand, is planning to concentrate on singles, and so it is yet not known how
much doubles he will play. Fortunately, the fans of Mariusz and Marcin don't have to worry - in the next
season they will play together.

game yesterday and the Polish duo lost to Marcos Baghdatis and Stanislas Wawrinka in the first round of the

that the eventual result was 2/6 6/3 10/8 for the representatives of Cyprus and Switzerland. Now, Mariusz and
Marcin will have a few days off and later they will fly to France to play in BNP Paribas Masters in Paris.

Mutua Madrilena Masters finals
Bob and Mike Bryan
defended their last year's title in Madrid by winning over Mariusz and Marcin 6/3 7/6(4). However, our players
have improved a lot since they last played against the American twins - three years ago, in a different
tournament,
they only won three games in the whole match. Today, they played well, especially in the second set. Despite
today's loss, Mariusz and Marcin can be proud of themselves and their game in the Mutua Madrilena tournament.
Sunday October 21, 2007
11.40 a.m.
Madrid
It is the last day of the Mutua Madrilena Masters
in Madrid and, at the same time, the day of the final match for Mariusz and Marcin. Our players will have to
face the best doubles team in the world, the American twins, Mike and Bob Bryan. The Bryans' achievements are
incredible: over fourty won tournaments, among them many grand slams and masters series tourneys. Bob and Mike
also defend the title from Madrid. For Mariusz and Marcin, the finals in Madrid is the highest achievement so
far, unless you count their appearance in Masters Cup last year. Before, they played in Australian Open's
semifinal in 2006.
Today's final match begins at 12.30. We keep our fingers crossed for Mariusz and
Marcin to win their first ATP Masters Series event title.
Saturday October 20, 2007
5.00 p.m.
MARCIN AND MARIUSZ IN THE FINAL OF
THE MASTERS SERIES TOURNAMENT IN MADRID
The semifinal opponents of Mariusz and Marcin were
Jonas Bjorkman of Sweden and Max Mirnyi of Bielarus. The odds were not good, as our team played three times
against Bjorkman and Mirnyi so far and lost all three matches. However, this time Mariusz
and Marcin made a
surprise and defeated one of the top teams in the world. The match was tight and Mariusz and Marcin won in
three sets 7/6(4) 5/7 10/6. Tomorrow is the final match against the better of Bryan/Bryan
(1) and
Canas/Nalbandian.
Friday October 19, 2007
3.50 p.m.
Madrid
Another great win for Mariusz and Marcin. This
time, it was close to losing the match, but once again Mariusz and Marcin showed some good tennis and advanced
to the semifinals. The quarterfinal match against Jeff Coetzee (South Africa) and Rogier Wassen (Netherlands)
was
more like a thriller, but fortunately it ended with 2/6 7/6(4) 10/6 for Mariusz and Marcin.

other partners in Wimbledon. Mariusz will probably pair up with Lukasz Kubot for that event. We will try to
inform you about their plans as soon as possible.

Roland Garros
Mariusz and Marcin lost in the first round
of Roland Garros today. They were defeated by Mahesh Bhupathi and Radek Stepanek
4/6 0/6. It is hard to say something more about the match. In the first set, our players managed to fight back
a little but already in the second the opponents had no problems winning all the games. Guess the best our
players can do right now is to quickly forget about today's match. However, Marcin will also play mixed
doubles with Sybille Bammer of Austria.
Monday May 28, 2007

Roland Garros
Today, the main draw doubles of French Open
has been announced. Mariusz and Marcin are seeded with number twelve and in the first round they are playing
against Mahesh Bhupathi of India and Radek Stepanek
of the Czech Republic. This year, our players defeated the Indian-Czech team, in the second round of Barcelona
tournament. Let's hope for one more win.

Hamburg
Unfortunately, Mariusz and Marcin still strugle
to get back their high form. Today, in the second round in Hamburg, they lost to Simon Aspelin of Sweden and Julian Knowle
of Austria. Having lost the first set 3/6, our players managed to get back to the game and won another set
6/3. This time, however, they lost the tie-break battle 7/10 and will have to say goodbye to the Hamburg
tournament.
Tuesday May 15, 2007

Hamburg
Our team had a lucky beginning of the tourney, as
they advanced to the second round after a tough match against the Argentines, Guillermo
Canas and Martin Garcia today. The Polish duo lost the first set 4/6 but won the second in the last
moment with the score 7/5. Also the third set tie-breaker's result was close; fortunately, Mariusz and Marcin
turned out more consistent and luckier and won the decisive part of the match 14/12. In the second round, they
will play against Simon Aspelin of Sweden and Julian Knowle
of Austria, seeded with number eight.
Sunday May 13, 2007
6.10 p.m.
Hamburg
After they had not qualified to the tournament in
Rome, Mariusz and Marcin came back home to rest and practise for AMS Hamburg. The draw was announced yesterday
evening and in the first round our players will meet with Guillermo
Canas and Martin Garcia of Argentina. The match will be played on Tuesday, as the second from 11.00 a.m.
Sunday May 6, 2007
7.20 p.m.
Rome
It is yet uncertain if Mariusz and Marcin will play
in the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome. Their rank was not high enough, and they are number one on the
alternates list. They will get into the main draw only if one of the teams withdraws.
Saturday May 5, 2007

Estoril
Marcelo Melo
and Andre
Sa of Brazil were Mariusz and Marcin's opponents today in the quarterfinals in Estoril. Unfortunately, for
the third time this year, the Poles did not take their chance to play the finals. They lost 1/6 6/7(3) in
spite of having a couple of chances of winning the second set.
Friday May 4, 2007
4.05 p.m.
Estoril
It took Mariusz and Marcin only fifty minutes to
defeat Tomas Cibulec and Jordan Kerr in
today's quarterfinal. The Poles won 6/2 6/1 and advanced to the semifinals. Today evening, they will find out
who will be their semifinal rivals. And they will be either the Brazilian duo of Marcelo Melo
and Andre
Sa or Portuguese teenagers, Gastao Elias
and Pedro
Sousa.
Thursday May 3, 2007

Estoril
Finally, the match between our team and the duo
of Igor Kunitsyn (Russia) and Sergio
Roitman (Argentina) has been played. Despite many wasted chances, Mariusz and Marcin defeated their
opponents 7/5 5/7 10/5 and advanced to the quarterfinals. Tomorrow, they will face Tomas Cibulec of the Czech Republic and Jordan Kerr of
Australia.
11.40 a.m.
Estoril
Once again rain delayed play in Estoril
yesterday. It stopped raining late in the afternoon and again not all matches were played or finished,
including that of Mariusz and Marcin. Their first round match has been re-scheduled to be played as the first
one today on court number 3, at noon (local time). However, there are heavy clouds over Lisbon near Estoril,
which may mean
another rain delay today. Let's hope Mariusz and Marcin will be able to play their match as planned.
Tuesday May 1, 2007
9.25 a.m.
Estoril
Due to rain and bad weather forcasts, a few
matches, including that of Mariusz and Marcin, have been postponed for tomorrow. Also, the opponents of the
Poles have changed, as Evgeny Korolev withrew because of the flu. Now, Marcin and Mariusz are supposed to play
against another Russian-Argentine duo, Igor Kunitsyn and Sergio
Roitman. The match has been planned as the fourth from 11.00 a.m. on the "Centralito" court.
Sunday April 29, 2007
0.10 a.m.
Estoril
Together with Mariusz and Marcin, we move to
Portugal, where the Polish duo is going to play in Estoril Open with the prize money of €531,250. In the
Portuguese tournament, Mariusz and Marcin are the highest seeded players. This tourney, however, does not
offer free first round, and so, in order to advance, Mariusz and Marcin will have to defeat the
Argentine-Russian team of Juan Martin del Potro and Evgeny
Korolev. Both of them are very solid players of the new generation (both born in 1988), but they lack
doubles experience, which should give advantage to Mariusz and Marcin in the first-round match.
Thursday April 26, 2007
5.10 p.m.
Barcelona
Today it was another tough match for Mariusz
and Marcin. This time however, their opponents turned out to be better and their slight domination on court
resulted in 7/6(4) 7/6(2). With this score, Erlich and Ram advanced to the semifinals, whereas Marcin and
Mariusz ended their play in Barcelona's tournament.
Wednesday April 25, 2007
7.52 p.m.
Barcelona
Mariusz and Marcin in quarterfinals! Our
doubles players had a free first round, and in the second they had to play against Mahesh Bhupathi (India) and Radek
Stepanek (Czech Republic). The match was long, tough and the advantage of one team over the other very
slight. An essay could be written on this match but the result says it all. Mariusz and Marcin advanced to the
next round with 7/5 6/7(10) 12/10. Tomorrow, they are playing against seeds number three, Jonathan
Erlich and Andy Ram (Israel).
Sunday April 22, 2007

Barcelona
Mariusz and Marcin have moved to Barcelona,
Spain to play in Open Seat 2007 with the prize money of €850,000. This time, our players are seeded with
number five and therefore, they will start the tournament from the second round. Their opponents will be the
winners of the match between Marc Lopez/Tommy
Robredo, the wild card holders from Spain, and Mahesh Bhupathi (India)/Radek
Stepanek (Czech Republic).

to keep the distance until the end of the match, advancing to the next round in Monte Carlo.
Monday April 16, 2007

Monte Carlo
Mariusz and Marcin advanced to the second
round in Monte Carlo AMS. It was supposed to be a long and tough match, judging by the first set, which ended
only in tie-break. In that first part of the match no team was dominant. However, Mariusz and Marcin managed
to win the tie-break to one, and so the whole set finished with 7/6(1). Unfortunately, right after that the
Murray brothers had to retire and it is the Polish duo who will play against seeds number five, Paul
Hanley (Australia) and Kevin Ullyett (Zimbabwe) in the second round.
Sunday April 15, 2007

Murray and his brother Jamie. The British team has 1-0 head-to-head with the Polish duo, as Andy and Jamie defeated
our players in Doha's quarterfinal this year.

News
The next tournament for Mariusz and Marcin is going
to be the AMS in Indian Wells, California, United States. Main draw doubles will be announced on 9th March, as
the tournament is two weeks long. In the meantime, Mariusz agreed to give us a short interview which we
present below.
Why always first rounds? Is your shape that bad, or are there other reasons?
M:We keep waiting for the good shape. I mean in the matches, which you can only gain after winning a
couple of matches in a row. The mishap in Brazil caused our insecurity that deepened match after match. We
also made too many mistakes. Apart from that, we set ourselves goals that were too much for us - we may have
to lower our expectations just to start making progress.
How to understand the latest semifinal of yours in the context of your other, not that good, tournaments?
Is it a kind of little hope for the future, or did it just happen because of average opponents?
M:Even when we made it to the semis, it was so very hard for us to achieve and every other match it was
more difficult, our game was worse and worse. This year, we played only nine matches which is too few.
Sometimes, it doesn't matter, but for us, it makes us toil. Our game is based on strength and some kind of
loftiness, but with so few matches played we are not able to get that back.
There have been rumours that there are misunderstandings between Marcin and you, is that true? Also, do you
guys consider separation, like you once did, or do you think it won't be necessary?
M:On the contrary. There is no such option. The season has started for good and we know we are able to
play well and have good results. I would call what is happening at the moment a temporary choke.
What are your plans for the season? Still ambitious? Shanghai maybe? I hope you still believe in
success...?
M:Yeah, we still have strong faith in ourselves :) We don't think about Shanghai, though. Right now we
have to concentrate on getting back to the big game.

Unfortunately, the bad luck of Mariusz and
Marcin continues. After quite a good result in Buenos Aires, they lost once again in the first round in

better tournament starts in the future.

Wednesday February 21, 2007
6.30 p.m.
Buenos Aires
Marcin and Mariusz won another fight with
the opponents and even more with themselves. In the just-finished quarterfinal match, they defeated the
Argentines, Carlos Berlocq and Brian
Dabul in three thrilling sets 7/5 3/6 11/9. In the first set, the Poles led 4/2, and next they
served to win the set at 5/4. However, a moment later, the Argentines levelled to 5/5 and Mariusz and Marcin
needed seven games to win that first part of the match. The second set started with a dramatic, from our
perspective, 0/3 and ended with fast 6/3 for Berlocq and Dabul. In the match tie-break, the action was fast
and changed fast, too. From 4/7, Marcin and Mariusz gained advantage of 8/7. It was, however, still too soon
to finish off the set. A couple of minutes later, the result turned to 8/9 and Mariusz and Marcin had to defend
a match point, which, luckily, they did. Fortunately, they did not waste their own match ball, and at 10/9
they won the decisive and last point of the match winning 11/9.
The semifinal opponents of Mariusz and
Marcin are yet not known. They will be decided in today evening's match between the Argentines seeded with
four, Sebastian
Prieto and Martin Garcia and the Frenchmen, Nicolas Devilder and Olivier Patience.

Costa do Sauipe
Unfortunately, the Brazilian scoreboard
likes to play tricks on the fans, and it was officialy confirmed that Mariusz lost the match against Diego
Junqueira. The result was indeed 6/2 6/1 but Diego was the winner. We apologize for the misinformation, we
can
only hope that the people responsible for the online results will do their job better next
time.
Doubles
As we informed, Mariusz and Marcin are playing doubles in Brazil, as usual.
Their first match has been scheduled for today at 5.00 p.m. (time in Costa do Sauipe - other than in the order
of play on the tournament's site), which is 8.00 p.m. CET (Poland). Until yesterday, the ATP scoreboard (which
you can launch from the tournament's site or atptennis.com) displayed results only from the central court and
court number 1. We do not know what it will be like today. Until last year, there was no point-by-point
scoreboard from Brazil, and so it is still a progress as far as the organization is concerned. However, the
results from all the courts are displayed every couple of games HERE.
Sunday February 11, 2007
11.05 p.m.
Costa do Sauipe
Mariusz advanced to the qualifying round
in Costa do Sauipe. In the match finished a while ago, he defeated Diego
Junqueira in straight sets. The
Argentine managed to steal only three games from Mariusz and the match finished with 6/2 6/1. However, to
qualify to the main draw Mariusz has to win one more match and that would be against the winner of the match
between Oleksandr Dolgopolov Jr (Ukraine) and Marcos Daniel (Brazil) which is still being played at the moment
on court 1.
Doubles draw
The main draw doubles has also been announced in Brazil. Mariusz
and Marcin are seeds number 2 and in the first round they are playing against the Spaniards, Albert

accepted the card and in the first round will play against the Spaniard, Gorka

is even worse since our team defended points from last year's semifinal. However, both Marcin and Mariusz are
playing in mixed doubles; Marcin paired up with Cara Black of Zimbabwe and together they make team number 6,
while Mariusz is playing with Mara Santangelo of Italy. In the first round, Marcin and Cara are playing
